Identifying Opportunities Elsewhere

Economic:
1. https://www.governing.com/gov-institute/voices/col-regional-housing-mobility-economic-opportunity.html

There is growing evidence that housing mobility can help families move up the economic ladder.
A promising approach to promoting housing mobility is to help families participating in the federal housing choice voucher program find homes in resource-rich areas. The opportunity itself relates heavily for a growing demand to reuse and reestablish housing as an effort to promote the people of the region. The most likely customers will be those who seek the housing and feel it outweighs available housing. The opportunity may be relatively difficult to exploit when starting as housing may need to be made available and refurbished but other it should be easy.

2.https://www.brookings.edu/blog/up-front/2019/05/13/maximizing-ais-economic-social-and-trade-opportunities/

The opportunity to develop and expand on AI is something that is entirely useful and is quite easy to exploit so long as it provides benefits for all including those who don't belief in its overall success. The AI world is something that can entirely be used to control and redistribute the wealth and social status of people around and can be used heavily in further research. I belief an opportunity exists here and will continue to exist so long as the parameters of development are met.

3. Regulatory Action

The development and instillation of regulatory action centered of redeveloping and reusing power plants is something that may be key in designing new projects and continuing research on power supplies. I believe and opportunity like this can be exploited based on the large amount of plants the growing want to redesign them to be better.

4. Regulatory action centered on the establishing limits for air pollution on vehicles is something that promotes a degree of development in the electric vehicle industry. I believe something like this can be exploited and will be used by all individuals who seek practicality and affordability.

Local Opportunities

1. Fair Labor Standards Act
https://tampabay.legalexaminer.com/workplace/labor-employment/fair-labor-standards-act-update/

This opportunity rests on the idea that individuals should be granted the right to higher wages and circumstances that create a sound and safe environment for them and their families. The idea that higher and fair standard wages is an opportunity to create a situation that all feel welcomed and invited too. This opportunity hits both local and national levels and is something worth diving into.
The individuals facing this problem include those who are struggling to attain jobs that are centered at promoting healthy environments.

2.  Electric Buses
https://www.gainesville.com/news/20180830/city-to-get-electric-rts-buses

The situation that Gainesville is facing right now is both economical and progressive. The attempt to establish electric buses that will replaced gas powered buses is quite the opportunity to show the importance and capabilities of electric vehicles. With this instillation the city will surely experience an increase in the number of visitors due to a sign of progressive influence. The situation in itself will benefit us all and is a direct attack on the increasingly large disbelief in the global conflict against global warming.

3. Health Concerns
https://www.gainesville.com/news/20190531/northeast-florida-community-health-assessment-spotlights-lack-of-access-to-care/1

Health concerns are something that has considerably diminished the ability for many individuals in the region to continue living a healthy life. This article helps illustrate a opportunity in the region that shows the decreasing level of medical assistance and its need for regrowth and redevelopment. The issues has affected many but mostly those in the more impoverished level of society and is plaguing many children and women are who are unable to contribute for themselves or others.

4. Alcoholic Beverage Sales
https://www.gainesville.com/news/20190531/sec-lifts-ban-on-stadium-wide-alcohol-sales

The issue facing UF directors and consultants of sports related events revolves around the sale of alcoholic beverages. While I myself am against the sale of beverages due to exploitation by minors it does present a viable form of investment as sales are likely to be quite high and will only garner results unparalleled by the non-alcoholic sales being made. The issue itself is a manifestation of taking the opportunity to advance current sales and create a circumstance of considerable wealth.

5. Meetings for a better future
https://www.wcjb.com/content/news/Gainesvilles-citizen-led-charter-review-commission-underway-510647281.html

The commencement of weekly, monthly, and annually meetings has become a prized opportunity to reevaluate and redesign existing policies and those that threaten the people of a growing city. The issue being faced is in regards to a growing advancement of meetings centered on reaffirming the peace and safety of citizens. However it could be used as an opportunity to greatly strengthen the city and the unity of the people for much more developed projects that pursue on redesigning the city as a whole.

Opportunity Belief

The culmination an opportunity in our society can be quite hard to dissect, however, I believe that an opportunity exists in the automobile industry. These individuals I have witnessed and understood are more intrigued everyday by the growing fuel efficiency and capabilities of electric cars. These cars can be either both electric and gas powered or completely electric, regardless the demand and overall need for them is growing at a substantial rate.

The unmet need that seems be growing is the need and/or demand for electric cars. the individuals who need these vehicles is small at the moment but is growing due to the growing crisis of global ecosystem changes and the safety and affordability generated from electric cars. This need grew and has existed for quite a long time and has only become more popular as the cars become more powerful than existing gas powered vehicles. People are more than willing and are currently do exactly was was expected in terms of purchasing new electric vehicles. I am more than 90% sure an opportunity in this market exists.

I interviewed a few people regarding the if this would fit in there needs during this period.

Cynthia Stephens-a white suburban mother of 3
Exact Nature of the need- The interviewee understood the need was based on the growing demand for electric cars and understood it overall benefits. They became aware of the need and pondered the purchase of an electric vehicle on multiple occasions as it reduced fuel consumption and overall presented a safer option for the family. They became aware of the need upon seeing the reduced cost of the vehicle and the time they were involved in an accident that presented a threat to the children in the vehicle. They are not currently addressing the need, however are more than willing to do so. They are happy with the possibility of acquiring a electric car that can provide for the family needs.

David Gilliam-an African american father of 2
The same results were obtained from David concerning an electric vehicle. He provided examples of the need for the vehicle in his home similar to Cynthia.

Louis Guangzhou-
Louis failed to recognize the nature of the opportunity and was quick to dismiss such a radical change in something he already has. He was unable to recognize that an electric vehicle may be a viable alternative in comparison to a gas powered vehicle.

Liam Nelson-
The overall usage and development of the electric vehicle is something I am willing to dive into as it presents to me and my family an opportunity to reduce our costs and extend our ability to change the world. I truly believe that when I became aware of the opportunity of electric vehicles I was given an opportunity to preserve my families safety.

Reflection: I learned quite a lot about my opportunity and its relevance in the lives of others. I also was surprised at how willing people were to change and how understanding many people were in acknowledging the growing demand for electric vehicles. Overall I feel the interviews went quite well at capturing the public eye.

The original opportunity presented was still pretty much there but was slightly less intact. Many people recognize and pointed out varying flaws in the opportunity and were quick to question its overall growth and sufficiency. I believe that with the adjustments such as maintaining a vehicle with both electric and gas powered abilities.

I truly believe that entrepreneurs should adapt their opportunities based off of customer feedback. This is due to a variety of reasons mainly those stemming from that fact that the customer is usually able to truly disclose what they desire and what the general public desires.

My Entrepreneurship Story

The first time in my life in which I was exposed to entrepreneurship was when I was in high school and a public speaker came to visit to discuss with us the importance of his practice and how business is a growing field of study many of us should consider. He himself owned quite a few companies in the area I was born and helped instill a business leadership mindset that we could possibly build upon in the future. he helped us understand the ideals needed in order to grow both financial and individually to benefit ourselves and others. From this experience I became intrigued in the field of entrepreneurship which is one reason I am taking this class as of today. I hope to get out of this class a better understanding of the field and help build upon the existing mindset I was exposed too at a young age.

Bug List

1.  Imperfections on my phone and computer
-Every time I look at my phone or open my laptop I see nothing but large smudges are various other messes I was not aware of. Each smudge and dust collection that appears haunts me, as it represents a degree of uncleanliness in my own life style.
-Upon further inspecting each smudge and imperfection I've come to the conclusion that they exist simply due to my oily hands and the various other messes that can accumulate during my daily usage.

2. Tangled Wires
-Particularly my headphones and charging cable for my iPhone 5s. Every time I reach into my pockets to use these wires I find myself struggling to untangle them, wasting precious time to listen to one song before I head to class or jump on the bus.
- The most probable reason this bug exists is because every time I place these wires in my pocket or backpack I simply shove them in without first giving them a proper form to maintain. I simply put them in my pocket at a already seemingly tangled form.

3. Obnoxiously Slow Walkers
-Possibly the most disappointing part of my day is being stuck behind a group of people or simply one individual who walks painfully slow to class. During my walk to Physics I've come to fall short of being able to pass people just before the sidewalk narrows, leaving me stuck behind slow walkers.
-I believe the bug exists for a few reasons. Mainly people are just not fast walkers or they're unenthusiastic about getting to class and beginning work. For me it is simply not timing my myself  and therefore getting stuck behind others.

4. Lines
-Maybe twice a week I go to Panda Express in the Reitz Union to get a quick bite. While the taste of the food outweighs the line I find myself losing precious time having to wait in line that stretches all the way to Starbucks located opposite Panda.
-The bug exists, at least from my point of view, from the absence of workers taking peoples orders. Usually one panda employee is taking orders and fulfilling plates so the line tends to grow longer and longer due to inadequate serving times.

5. Faulty Pens
-Unlike most students who use their tablets and laptops to take notes, I continue to use pen and paper to get my notes down. During my recent math class my pen that I've used for no more than 3 wees suddenly stopped working. This infuriated me as it was a relatively new pen and I needed to finish my notes. The continuously uncertainty of a pens reliability bothers me every time I use them.
-Why does this bug exist? Maybe due to pressing down on the pen too hard while writing or maybe leaving the cap off causing the ink to dry. These are two reasons I usually ask before throwing one way if it begins acting up.

6. Computer Mouse Disconnection
- Every so often when I use my after market computer mouse it will suddenly stop responding and disconnecting. This becomes the most annoying when I am completing work for my engineering classes such as Solid Works that requires me to be able to build parts and rotate them to check dimensions and other various criteria.
-Why does this bug exist? Maybe it is the fact that it is a relatively cheap after market mouse or sometimes that when I am using it, it falls on the floor and may knock some components around.

7. Low Milk Content
-Every morning I wake up and make a bowl of cereal before I start my daily activities. However, this can all go downhill if I don't have any more milk left. I face this problem at least once every two weeks in which I forget to run to my nearest Publix to purchase milk.
-Why does this bug exist? I guess it is a failure to plan ahead and make a "need-to-do" list which I very much need to do.

8. Profusely Sweating when Walking to Class
-One of the biggest downsides of walking to class during the summer is sweating and I do not mean some sweat I mean large amounts of it. It inst due to improper exercise, I am a power lifter so I think I know what I am doing, but rather it is due to the excessive heat and the clothing I wear sometimes.
- Why does this bug exist? Well one, because we are human but two because I tend to wear very form fitting clothing that is sometimes too large or two thick, only contributing to excessive sweats.

9. Unanswered Returned Messages
-Something that bugs me more than anything is the fact that when I am unable to answer a message for any reason and I have to therefore call back later and you don't answer
10. No WiFi Signal

11.No Food
-When returning from work or from school I sometimes come across empty pantries and refrigerators. Such as the other day. I made my way into the kitchen in hopes of eating a Tostinos pizza only to come to find out that we were out.
-Why does this bug exist? Over consumption of food during other days and a failure to purchase enough food. I usually write down my daily intake to get a good idea as too how much I need to buy during a given week.

12.Runny Nose
-The most annoying bug I come to find myself facing every 5-6 months is a runny nose. The idea of not being able to smell through both nostrils and having to continuously wipe my nose is quite bothersome.
-Why does this bug exist? Usually caused by a mild cold or allergies, this bug comes into fruition due to uncleanliness and sometimes failure to stay away from heavy pollen.

13. Assignment Not Submitted
-This bug mainly concerns itself with Canvas's inability to always download assignments quick enough or sometimes not submitting assignments when selecting submit assignment. This has happened to me multiple times for some of my early engineering classes and continues to haunt me.
-Why does this bug exist? Usually due to faulty internet connection and overly large files that cannot be submitted.

14. Socks Always being Inside Out
-Every morning before I put on a new pair of socks I find myself struggling to get the turned the right way. Once I remove them from the dryer I usually just stick them in the drawer, but this doesn't necessarily mean they need to be placed into the drawer properly to not get messed up.
-Why does this bug exist? When washing and drying clothes all kinds of things can happen. I tend to see the most inside out socks once I remove them from the washer.

15. Excessively Hot Room
-To avoid high utility costs we tend to keep the air conditioner quite high, usually around 78. When we do this, however, we unknowingly heat up the rooms that have open windows to scorching temperatures.
-Why does this bug exist? Failure to close blinds and failure to keep ventilation throughout the house.
16. Doors that are Hinged Too Tightly
-This problem is greatest around the New Physics Building on Museum Road. The doors are so new and heavy that they don't open without a great amount of force. I find this bugs me a lot when I'm feeling lazy and don't feel like putting all my strength into getting a door open.
-Why does this bug exist? Possibly due to faulty hinges or lack of attention when construction began.

17. Radio Always on Blast When Entering Car
-I tend to always listen to loud music while in my car. I use it as a form of relaxation. However, whenever I leave the vehicle I sometimes forget to set the radio volume down. Usually once I enter the car my ears are already buzzing in pain before I can quickly react and turn it down.
-Why does this bug exist? Attention to detail in our daily tasks even those are that quite redundant. Such as "OK the radio is off because I turned the car off therefore the volume should automatically lower". Wrong,

18.Reckless Drivers
-Sometimes I drive my car to school since I live relatively close to campus. On my sometimes daily commute I am nearly always inches away from someone texting while driving or driving without a care in the world for the safety of others.
-Why does this bug exist? I suppose most drivers are too busy or in a hurry and don't consider the ramifications of getting into an accident and would rather bypass the smallest bump in the road than slow down.
19. Forgetting Necessary Items
-Every so often I forget one or two things I need desperately. For instance, being getting on the bus to get to class I forgot my UF ID. All bus drivers require some form of identification that you attend the school since we receive free rides. I nearly went into full panic mode when I couldn't find my ID, however, the bus driver recognized me and granted me assess.
-why does this bug exist? We tend to overlook certain details in our day to day business. Placing little emphasis on the things we take for granted and placing more on others. Sometimes this can be problematic as those things we take for granted can easily disappear without notice.

20. Grammatical Errors
-While this blog may have some grammatical errors that a proof read did not pick it. I tend to take complete car for spotting and removing any errors that may conflict with the cohesiveness of my work
-Why does this bug exist? Sometimes due to improper handling of material but most likely due to blissful ignorance when faced with the correct way to use certain punctuation.

Challenges:
I think the biggest challenge when making this list had to do with the idea of actually looking back into my own daily agenda and picking the items that I feel truly upset or disappoint me. It required a lot of self reflection in order to appropriately name 20. This challenge was by far the hardest too overcome but was surely pleasing to endure.
